MICHAEL WERNER, Filmmaker

Michael is a national award-winning director, writer, and director of photography based in New York City. He specializes in documentaries which explore humanity's complex and evolving relationship with non-human animals, nature and science. He travels widely for work and you might catch him anywhere from the Arctic tundra to the rainforests of Africa. His films have earned him a National Edward R. Murrow Award for Documentary, two National American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Kavli Science Journalism Awards, and seven Emmy Awards. His work has been featured nationally and internationally through HBO Films, Netflix, Showtime, PBS Nature, Nat Geo, CBS, MSNBC, Vox, and the Cannes International Film Festival. He is also an FAA-certified professional drone pilot who flies everything from large cinema-grade UAVs to acrobatic FPV drones.
